We live in a time when technology provides us with instant information, and while this may seem overwhelming to some, it affords us the ability to use our cell phones as cameras at the precise moment we see something that speaks to us. That single moment, when light bounces off a figure or surface, the illumination is glorious, but fleeting. As an artist, I see that perfect light and immediately know it will be something that I want to paint. This body of work represents my love of light and how it dances around the figure to tell a story. I consider my work to be very “painterly”; the ability to see the brush strokes and paint mixed right on the canvas. I love the process of painting and I want the viewer to feel an intimacy when viewing my work.
